HOOOLY DIVAAAHH! YOU BEEN DOWN SO LONG IN THE MIDNIGHT SEEEEAAA! [25 Jul 2007|10:57am]
[ mood | calm ]
[ music | TV ]

So, I just got done with Guitar Hero Rocks The 80s on medium. And I would like to say...

FUCK YOU, CAUGHT IN A MOSH.

Seriously. Such a good song. But it's so hard to play. On medium even. The only other song I can recall that's been so difficult on medium for me has been Madhouse on the second game, also by...Anthrax. Hmmm...I'm sensing a pattern here.

What a fun game. All in all, there weren't a TON of songs I loved from the 80s on there, but it was great for the cheese factor alone. I mean, come on. Krokus, Poison, Winger, RATT, Extreme, Scandal, Asia, etc. The list goes on.

The entire last part of the game was awesome. Judas Priest, Winger, Dead Kennedys, Extreme and Anthrax. Maaaaaaaaan, that Dead Kennedys song is fun (Police Truck). Not as fun as Only A Lad or Turning Japanese, but still way fun.

So yeah, while this isn't the BEST Guitar Hero game so far, it's tons of fun, and it was a good idea for them to put it out so that fiends like me and Travis can have something to tide us over until Rock Band and Guitar Hero III.

edit: This is fucking awesome.

Friends with director David Yates, he joked with him that "maybe now I wouldn't be the only actor in England who hadn't been in Harry Potter." OHNOEZ!!! PAGANZ!!! [17 Jul 2007|12:00pm]
[ mood | amused ]
[ music | TrVVx ]

OH SHIT! ANGRY PAGANS!!

Pagans have pledged to perform "rain magic" to wash away a cartoon character painted next to their famous fertility symbol - the Cerne Abbas giant.

A doughnut-brandishing Homer Simpson was painted next to the giant on the hill above Cerne Abbas, Dorset, to promote the new Simpsons film.

Many believe the ancient chalk outline of the naked, sexually aroused giant to be a symbol of ancient spirituality.

Many couples also believe the 180ft carving aids fertility.

The painted Simpsons character has been painted with water-based biodegradable paint which will wash away as soon as it rains.

Ann Bryn-Evans, joint Wessex district manager for The Pagan Federation, said: "We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind.

"We'll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away."

She added: "I'm amazed they got permission to do something so ridiculous. It's an area of scientific interest."

It is not the first time the giant has been used to advertise products. He has been used to promote items as diverse as condoms, jeans and bicycles.

Mike Webb, landlord of the New Inn in Cerne Abbas, said his staff were amused by the temporary addition to the village.

"I think it is different and unusual," he said. "We've not heard any complaints here so far, but I'm not sure many of the local people will know who Homer Simpson is."

During World War II, the Cerne giant was disguised to prevent the Germans from using him as an aerial landmark.

Since then he has always been visible, receiving regular grass trimming and a full re-chalking every 25 years.

There is debate among experts about when the giant was created varying from thousands of years ago to as recently as the 17th Century.

Anyway, yeah. So great. I'm so glad there was finally a Harry Potter movie I loved from beginning to end. I have lots of hope for the next two. :)

Then we went to Travis' for a pool party, which turned out to be the Apocalyptic Pool Party Of Doom because a huge storm whipped up right after I got there. But it was fun anyway. And then Brandi and Travis came over here and hung out for the rest of the night.

I drank six Mike's Hard Lemonades and got a really hardcore buzz going on all night. I fear my tolerance for alcohol has once again dropped. :(

Then Tara and I stayed in bed sleeping and watching TV and just laying around until 3 this afternoon. It was lovely.

Oh fuck. The #1 song in the country on my birthday was awesome.

"Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson

Man, look at the list for the #1 songs for the month of March in the 80's...

1989 ... "Lost in Your Eyes" by Debbie Gibson
1988 ... "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley
1987 ... "Jacob's Ladder" by Huey Lewis & the News
1986 ... "Sara" by Starship
1985 ... "Can't Fight This Feeling" by REO Speedwagon
1984 ... "Jump" by Van Halen
1983 ... "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson
1982 ... "Centerfold" by J. Geils Band
1981 ... "I Love a Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt
1980 ... "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen

compared to the #1 songs in March over the past seven years.

2007 ... "This Is Why I'm Hot" by Mims
2006 ... "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt
2005 ... "Candy Shop" by 50 Cent featuring Olivia
2004 ... "Yeah!" by Usher featuring Ludacris & Lil Jon

2002 ... "Ain't It Funny" by Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja Rule
2001 ... "Stutter [Double Take Remix]" by Joe featuring Mystikal
2000 ... "Amazed" by Lonestar

People have no taste anymore. Especially in the month of March.

I don't even know who Mims is, but I've heard that song and I want to murder it in the face with a Gatling gun.

Anyway, here. Go look and see what the #1 song was when you were born. And then post it. Because I said so.

My Awesome Crazy Time Travel Dream [07 Jul 2007|09:59am]
[ mood | awake ]
[ music | nothing ]

So I just woke up from an AMAZINGLY insane dream. This was one of the most vivid ones I've had in a long time, and it broke my string of boring dreams, that's for sure.

Bear with me...I just woke up.

Read on.

We had been over at Travis' house for a while, and we went shopping with him at Wal Mart. While we were at the store, there was a weird...shift in things, and everyone started talking differently and all the products on the shelves became very strange and unfamiliar.

So we went to check out and when we did, they were only accepting a certain sort of currency that I knew nothing about. And we had to put the things we bought down on a big metal scanning device along with our keys and sunglasses and other belongings to get checked.

After that, we left the store, and instead of it being at the end of a giant parking lot like it had been before, it was at the top of a grassy hill overlooking the sea. It was like things had gone back in time a hundred years or so. There were guards outside of every building, including the thatched cottages that stood where normal houses and businesses had before. We had to get on a bus to get where we wanted to go, so we left Travis and boarded the next bus that came our way and we headed to 'the party'.

On our way there, we were riding past the beaches and the ocean, and off to the left, there was a whirlpool forming not too far out into the water. Tara and I started freaking out, while everyone remained eerily calm. All of a sudden, a swarm of bright red tentacles emerged from the whirlpool and began flailing around. I began to panic, and Tara was holding onto the right side of the bus like her life depended on it.

As we continued around the road by the sea, the tentacles kept emerging nearer and nearer to the bus. I had found my camera in a backpack I was carrying, and I was desperately trying to make it work. All of a sudden, we rounded a sharp corner and began going up a hill. I took the camera and ran to the back of the bus where there was a large window. I pressed the camera up to the glass as I saw the tentacles start to show from under the water again, when all of a sudden, they not only appeared, but started lifting upward until I saw what they were attached to. I saw a patch of flesh or skin beneath them, and I realized that they weren't tentacles after all, but rather the hair of a giant creature of some sort.

All of a sudden, this creature burst out of the water as the bus began to turn again, this time out of view of the water. The ground shook violently below us, and I pressed the button on the camera frantically until I was unable to see the water anymore. Then I slowly made my way back to my seat next to Tara. She asked me what it was and I went to the camera for an answer. The picture was zoomed in so I could only see the tentacles/hair but when I zoomed out, my heart jumped a little. It was a giant woman, her fist smashing through a series of buildings as her flaming red hair whipped around her head. Her torso was all I could make out in the picture, but the top half of her alone had to have been at least a few hundred feet tall. We both looked at each other in awe, and then the bus came to a screeching halt.

We were outside one of the heavily guarded cottages, which was apparently where 'the party' was. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the people inside. Out of nowhere, Tom Cruise came up to us and welcomed us to his house. They offered us some soup, and we found out the party was for a little boy who was very very sick.

We were introduced to him, (This is where detailed parts of the dream get a little fuzzy. I still remember the majority of it though.) and we found out the reason he was sick. He was actually the last remaining survivor of a time shift that had happened a few years before. Tara and I talked to him and he told us that he, too, had experienced what we had, and that the date was somewhere around 2025. He also told us that everyone who had 'stepped forward' in time was dead, due to a rapid change in nature not too long after 2007. Their bodies hadn't been able to handle the bacteria that had evolved over time. The change had been gradual enough for those who hadn't experienced the shift, but the way the change in nature had affected the normal way of life was harsh, and because of it, humanity had to stop using all modern forms of technology. It was basically the 1800s again.

All of a sudden, we were rushed from the room, and someone put a dark but sheer screen up over the boy's doorway. We asked Tom Cruise what was up, and he told us that 'she needed him' and that 'they' were going to 'ferry him to her'. We got sort of freaked out and decided to leave. We were told that if we went outside, we would die because the bacteria was stronger at night.

I rushed back into the room where the boy was lying to ask him what caused the time shift and what we could do to reverse it, but when I entered the room, I saw that Tara was in the bed instead of the boy. They people in the room were no longer referring to the boy, but to Tara, as if they had been all along. I leaned over the bed, and she smiled at me.

Just then, one of the men in the room screamed and began pointing at the fireplace. Everyone's gaze drifted downward, and we saw that he was now sitting on the floor, but it wasn't him. It was smaller, and wet and shivering, and had the most terrifying eyes I had ever seen. It was rocking back and forth, muttering about me and Tara and saying

"He's in the bed. He thinks it's her, but it's not. It's him. They're all looking at him and they have the knife. They have the knife and they will ferry him to her."

I looked down, and I was now sitting in the bed. Tara was sort of transparent and fading away next to me. I tried to move, but I couldn't. Something in the soup had parazlyzed me. The 'partygoers' were now gathering around me and I could see in the glow of the fireplace that they all had traces of sea creatures about them. One of them smiled, and reached for something, and then I woke up.

I listened to the new Bad Religion album, which is streaming over at their Myspace, and it bored the shit out of me.

Don't get me wrong...the album is like an out of control freight train. It's got that old-school sort of feel to it where it just never lets up, but it's sorely lacking in originality. Every track sounded the same, except for a slower one which wasn't that bad, but all in all, I'm not impressed.

What I've heard of the new Against Me! album is really good though. The stream on their Myspace crapped out of me about halfway through the album. Boo.
